Food energetics is an ancient philosophy with the belief that food has cooling, warming, or neutral properties that affect your pet’s health and overall well-being. Balancing their body temperature can be accomplished through feeding the right food.
Cooling meats are for pets who are chronically warm, panting, thirsty or dry. They also help dogs with allergies and inflammation.
Warming meats are for pets who are chronically cold, fatigued, or have a poor appetite.
Neutral meats are for pets anytime and help balance the body.
Food energetics can be applied during different seasons of the year. Feed your pet cooling meats in the summer and warmer meats in the winter months.
Adding freshness to your pets’ diets is very important. Moisture aids in healthy organ function. Different types of food have different levels of freshness. The level of freshness can be determined by a food’s moisture content plus the food’s ability to retain raw nutrients.
The Mixology diet supports rotational feeding and adding freshness to your pet’s diet. If your pet’s diet is made up of only kibble, start small and try mixing in some canned or freeze-dried food to add moisture. You don’t have to go 100% raw or fresh…adding a little fresh overtime will help.

How to Add Variety
Let’s get started adding variety to your pet’s food!
When transitioning your pet over to a new food it’s best to make the change gradually.
This helps avoid an upset stomach. If your pet has a sensitive stomach or you are switching to grain-free food, you may want to extend the transition period.
As you add in new proteins and different foods, we recommend keeping a quick daily list of how your pet reacts to what and which they love.
We recommend that this transition take place over a 7-day period.
EVERY PET is different. That’s why we encourage you to visit your local Bentley’s Pet Stuff. Don’t be afraid to add variety to your pet’s diet. You can change it up and oh by the way…you should!
